Sacramento, CA, USA -  Carmazzi Global Solutions (CGS), an international language service provider headquartered in Sacramento, CA, has announced their recent award of General Services Administration (GSA) Contract # GS10F0504X UNDER THE Solicitation Number : TFTP-GC-017382-B Refresh #11 Schedule 73802.

The CGS GSA contract offers innovative high-quality services and “most-favored customer” pricing for language solutions including; written translation, on-site and telephonic interpretation, and services for the visual and hearing impaired.

GSA Contracting Officers award Schedule contracts to companies that meet stringent criteria for quality and highly competitive pricing.  The GSA award bestows a streamlined contract vehicle for government agencies at State and Federal levels to purchase CGS language services.

With a network of more than 5,000 linguists providing services in more than 150 languages, Carmazzi Global Solutions has been a force in shaping the language service industry since 1998.  CGS considers this GSA award a “substantial achievement” says Angela Carmazzi, CGS President.  “The achievement of our GSA schedule represents a significant accomplishment for our organization, and the promise of increased accessibility to high caliber language services for government agencies nationwide.”

The contract will remain in effect through 10/11/2016.

Christmas, a holiday based on faith and an annual opportunity to share gifts with those you love. We would like to hear how each of you celebrates this season, and if you do not, when and how your family celebrate the holidays.

As our gift to you, we would like to invite you all into the most important room of the home during the holidays – OUR KITCHENS! Several of our staff members have shared some of their cherished, traditional family recipes below. We sincerely hope you enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 lb. lean, ground beef

1 c. soft bread crumbs (sourdough bread makes the best)

1 egg slightly beaten

1 TBSP minced onion

1 TBSP milk

1 clove minced garlic

1 tsp. salt

dash of black pepper

1 TBSP oil

2/3 c. Heinz chili sauce

2/3 c. red currant jelly

Preparation:

Combine first eight ingredients in a glass bowl. Form into bite-sized balls using a full teaspoon for each. Brown meatballs lightly in oil. Cover, and simmer for ten minutes. Drain excess fat. Combine chili sauce and jelly; pour over meatballs. Heat, stirring occasionally until jelly is melted. Simmer 10-12 minutes until sauce is thickened, baste occasionally. Serve. (May be kept warm in crock pot on low, stir occasionally.)

Ingredients:

Fruit & Vegetable Flour mix (Krupia brand)

6-7 almost ripe bananas

1 egg

1 coconut milk can

4 TB sugar

sesame seeds (optional)

confectioner’s sugar

oil for deep frying

Preparation:

Peel, slice bananas in half vertically, then slice horizontally in the sizes desired. (1 banana= 4 slices). Heat wok of oil on high medium heat (never too high Temp) then go make the batter.

For the flour mix batter:

Use the whole package, add 1 egg, 1 whole coconut can and sugar. mix well. Dip some banana slices in batter then put in hot wok of oil. first batch may take 5-8 minutes. turn sides when golden brown. Take them out, place on top of paper towel for draining. Sprinkle confectioner’s sugar on top of fried bananas

OPTIONAL: vanilla or coconut ice cream

Ingredients:

1/3 cup finely crushed Oreo Cookies

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1/4 cup ricotta cheese

2 ounces cream cheese

1/4 cup sugar, plus 2 tablespoons

1 package Andes Mints

Mint Extract

1 egg

Non-Stick Spray

Special equipment: mini muffin tin

Preparation:

Put the Andes Mints in the freezer to make them easier to use later. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine the crushed Oreo cookies (without the filling) and the melted butter. Place a tightly packed teaspoon of the wafer mixture into each mini-muffin cup and press down firmly. In a food processor combine the ricotta cheese, cream cheese, the Oreo cream filling, 1/4 cup of the sugar, a teaspoon of mint extract, and the egg. Blend until smooth. Lightly grease the sides of the mini muffin tin with the non-stick spray. Fill the cups with about 1 1/2 tablespoons of the cheesecake mixture. Place the mini muffin tin in a baking dish and pour enough hot water in the baking dish to come halfway up the sides of the mini muffin tin. Bake for 25 minutes. Transfer the mini muffin tin to a wire rack and let cool for 30 minutes. Refrigerate for 15 minutes. Use a small knife to gently pop the cheesecakes out of the cups. Just before serving, grate shavings of the Andes Mints on top of the cheesecakes. Top each individual cheesecake with half of a mint and serve.

Ingredients for 8:

3 chile negros (usually you can only find these in Mexican stores)

4 chile California entero (mulato o pasilla) (usually you can only find these in Mexican stores)

4 chile guajillos (usually you can only find these in Mexican stores)

2 chile de árbol

1 small onion (sliced in circles)

1 clove of garlic

4 medium tomatoes (slice in 4)

24 corn tortillas

1 roasted & shredded chicken

1 cup of oil

1 tsp of Chicken Bouillon

Salt & pepper to taste

Chicken Broth may be needed if sauce is too thick,

Garnishments: Cheese, onion, chopped lettuce, avocado slices

Preparation:

Cook tomatoes covered in water, with all chiles un-veined & seedless, until tomatoes are soft. In a pan sauté onion & garlic. Blend tomatoes, chiles & sautéed garlic & onion. Fry this sauce in a teaspoon of oil & add salt & pepper & chicken bouillon (if sauce is to thick add chicken broth) and cook for 30 mins. Heat the cup of oil and when it’s hot pass each tortilla individually for about 20-30 seconds & let oil drain off before setting aside. After all tortillas are done dip each one in sauce and put on plate, fill with shredded chicken to desired amount and roll it. Garnish with cheese if desired, fresh onion, chopped lettuce, slices of avocado.

“I’ve always gotten excited about embracing the ‘high objective,’” Sandi says. “But I also understand this: it’s the little things that feed the big things. You have to get to a mindset where ‘good enough’ actually isn’t. Ever.”

A Carmazzi ‘go-to’ player since 2003, Sandi has served as Director of Operations and helped oversee numerous large-scale projects for Fortune 100 companies and various governmental agencies. It was under Sandi’s administrative guidance that Carmazzi greatly increased the size of its linguistic network and implemented new staff training and goal-setting strategies.

“Nothing relieves stress more then reaching out and talking to someone who cares for you. It’s a nice way to take the time to shoot a call to a family member or friend and stay connected. They help you take a deep breath and cheer you on as you continue on in your day. On those days that seem chaotic, I employ my special moment of the day which usually consist of cute tea cups, delicious tea, and dedicating time to read a chapter out of a positive book.”

“My favorite stress relievers:

1. On days when time allows I take a walk in the middle of the day to break up the monotony of sitting at my desk for 8hrs straight.
2. Take a few minutes to remember the things that are most important in life
3. Neck rolls and triceps/shoulder stretches are great to do when you can’t leave your desk
4. Cook! It’s an outlet for my creativity.”

“When I feel stressed, I have found that pleasing my sense of smell aids in relaxation. I will light a fragrant candle in scents such as Cinnamon Vanilla or Bamboo. I also enjoy burning incense, while enjoying a hot cup of Tazo Green Ginger Tea with a hint of agave nectar.

Also, tackling whatever is causing the stress immediately, instead of putting it off. This helps not only relieve the stress but also makes me less inclined to stress over a similar issue in the future because I know how to resolve it.”

For me, following this pattern, unnecessary stress rarely rises up!   And if it does unnecessarily rise up, emphasizing one or more of the 8 action items will crush it fairly quickly!”

“I don’t feel I stress easily, I really don’t have any special techniques; not that I don’t have any problems, but I think if my problem has a solution why worry about it and if it doesn’t then why worry.  I’ve learned to give my problems to God and forget about them.  I know He’ll take care of what ever is troubling me on His time.”

“My  favorite way of relieving stress is to take a brush, pencil, or nail, cut, paste materials or objects that serve me to create any painting, drawing or art object. Another way is to walk for 30 half-hour at least near the house, and in those cases where I can not step out from my desk, simply listen to some classical music or soft music that relaxes me the maximum. Set priorities and decide what really important is a useful strategy to help me reduce the stress, but of course, positive thinking, patience and optimism to the everyday situations of life are the best medicine to manage stress.”

A quiet yet fiery presence in the Carmazzi universe, Melissa manages and completes the desktop publishing of CGS’ localization projects. Her talent manifests itself in a number of artistic venues, and her background as a freelance illustrator comes in handy as well.

“The best part of my work is that I get to play with design software and help people around me solve any problems they come across,” says Melissa, who is a cum laude graduate of California State University, Chico. Melissa has a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts, Inter-Media Studio.

Thoughtful and savvy, Joyce Moua joined Carmazzi in 2008 and had an immediate impact on Carmazzi’s broadening array of skill sets. Her industrious and organized approach has benefited large-scale projects of all kinds – particularly those related to software, e-learning courses, and documentation help.

“I find that it pays to be mindful of people, objectives, and the places where they intersect,” Joyce says. “Be attentive to those elements, and you’ll be in a great position to get where the client wants to go.”

Joyce holds Certifications in Project Management and Massage Therapy. She received her Bachelor’s in Business with an emphasis in Project management. A mother of two, chef, and MBA student, she has been working in the translation/localization industry since 2007. Joyce is fluent in Hmong.
